Many individuals with autism struggle to find access to high quality and compassionate healthcare. The barriers to healthcare for autistic patients are numerous, and for some, their learning differences and challenging behaviors make medical interactions in a typical healthcare setting nearly impossible.
In January 2024, Autism New Jersey announced the launch of its Medical Equipment Lending Library as one of its many initiatives to reduce the health disparity experienced by the autism community. This innovative program provides essential medical equipment to Autism New Jersey organizational members, allowing staff to help individuals practice and reinforce needed behaviors in individualized and systematic ways outside of healthcare settings, leading to successful generalization to real medical environments and procedures.
Equipment Lending Application
All equipment is currently in use. However, Autism New Jersey organizational members with appropriate clinical staff to effectively implement interventions are welcome to apply and be placed on a waiting list for access to equipment. An Autism New Jersey staff will contact you, and if your application is approved, they will provide you with information about an approximate timeline for equipment availability.
