County Working Groups Include Autism Representation

June 06, 2024

Autism New Jersey continued to ensure autism awareness on County Mental Health & Special Needs Working Groups through a presentation at the Cumberland County Mental Health & Special Needs Working Group meeting on June 5, 2024.

Director Doreen Yanik presented the Law Enforcement Initiative and Law Enforcement Advisory Committee member, Tewksbury Township Police chief (Ret.) Tim Barlow, provided an update on the Blue Envelope. Through the initiative, Autism New Jersey aspires to ensure autism/IDD representation on all county working groups. Realization of this goal has and will continue to include contact with each County Working Group liaison and initiative presentations to working group members to heighten awareness of the need for representation.

In the coming weeks, Autism New Jersey will continue to raise awareness through attendance and information tabling at several “National Night Out” events hosted by our law enforcement partners. These activities will strengthen our connections with law enforcement and assist in our continued community outreach efforts.
