1st Annual Polar Bear Plunge Raises $10,000
January 15, 2019
Supporters happily braved the brutal cold on January 12, 2019, at the first annual Union Beach Polar Bear Plunge. Plungers of all ages rushed into 40-degree water to get “Freezin’ for a Reason,” raising more than $10,000 for Autism New Jersey. “It was pretty cold,” Union Beach resident Bill Gilkison said. “It was a lot of fun, a good cause, and I’m happy to do it and very proud of what we did.”
Thank you to the Union Beach Recreation Department, the team of first responders ensuring everyone’s safety, and American Legion Post 321 for hosting the post-plunge party. We appreciate everyone who donated and volunteered, and a very WARM thank you to those who took the plunge!
