Connection Letters for the Autism and Law Enforcement Communities

Our Law Enforcement Initiative brings together two important communities: individuals with autism and their families and the members of law enforcement who serve them. Our goal is to foster understanding, build trust, and enhance safety through open, empathetic communication.

We believe that both communities have much to learn from each other. Members of law enforcement benefit from a better understanding of the needs of individuals and families with autism, while the autism community can gain valuable insights into law enforcement policies and autism-friendly practices. These connections are crucial in developing safer, more respectful interactions.

Whether you’re a law enforcement officer, a family member of someone with autism, or someone with lived experience, your voice matters. We hope these letters serve as openings to have meaningful dialogue on a local level for the autism and law enforcement communities.

Below, you will find two types of letters that can be used to make connections.

  • Pre-filled letters in PDF format that can be signed and printed/emailed.
  • Template letters in Microsoft Word format that can be personalized, signed, and printed/emailed.
