P.L.2024, c.67 (Approved 9/12/2024) – Requires criminal history background check for individuals seeking licensure issued by boards regulating certain health care professions. (S2311/A1128)
2022-2023 Session
P.L. 2023, c. 199 (Approved 12/21/2023) – Extends through December 31, 2024, parity for reimbursement for health care services delivered through telemedicine or telehealth with reimbursement rates for in-person care. (A5757/S4127)
P.L. 2023, c. 296 (Approved 1/16/2024) – “Ensuring Transparency in Prior Authorization Act,” repeals the “Health Claims Authorization, Processing and Payment Act” and replaces it with provisions explaining the process for prior authorization for healthcare services and outline steps that payers (e.g. health insurance companies) must take to ensure that providers, covered individuals, and the general public understands the process and implications of prior authorization in a variety of contexts. P.L. 2023, c. 212 (Approved 1/8/2024) – Requires documentation of needs of students with disabilities during school security drills and emergency situations and in school security plans; requires staff training on needs of students with disabilities in emergency planning. (A1174/S2057)
P.L. 2023, c. 218 (Approved 1/8/2024) – Establishes the School Safety and Security Task Force and requires the task force to, among other directives, consider strategies to ensure the needs of students with disabilities are reflected in all areas of emergency planning and response measures. P.L. 2023, c. 179 (Approved 11/27/2023) – Requires certain transportation research to consider needs of individuals with physical, sensory, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. (A3328/S146)
P.L. 2023, c.108 (Approved 7/13/2023) – Requires Medicaid reimbursement for covered behavioral health services provided by a local education agency to a student who is an eligible Medicaid beneficiary. (A3334/S2416)
P.L. 2023, c.74 (Approved with line-item veto 6/30/2023) – Appropriates $54,319,047,000 in State funds and $26,144,171,463 in federal funds for the State budget for fiscal year 2023-2024. (A5669/S2024)
P.L. 2023, c.62 (Approved 5/15/2023) – Permits behavioral and mental health care providers to operate within homeless shelters. (A4755/S3261)
P.L. 2023, c.57 (Approved 5/15/2023) – Requires MVC to provide, upon request, notation on driver’s license or identification card of diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or communication disorder. (A2369/S761)
