Understanding Vaccine Eligibility

November 15, 2021

The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have approved usage of the COVID-19 vaccine for different age groups in the general population.

As a resource for those considering vaccines, we’ve prepared the following chart.

*For some special groups such as the immunocompromised, additional doses may also be advised.  These are not included in this chart.  Please consult your healthcare professional.

About Boosters

Boosters are recommended for anyone 18+ who received the one-dose J&J vaccine at least two months ago or their second dose of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine at least five months ago.

For those ages 12-17, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is authorized and recommended as a booster.

The CDC allows for boosters to be mixed and matched.

Special Needs Accommodations

Autism New Jersey's Special Needs Vaccine Clinic, in partnership with VNACJ, is now open for first, second and booster shots for all groups 12 and older.  At this time, the clinic cannot accommodate children ages 5 to 11.
