Caregiver Feedback on an Adaptive Online Water Safety Training Program

This pilot study examines caregiver experiences with The Sunfish Method, an existing online adaptive swim instructor training program. Through self-paced coursework, pre- and post-course quizzes, and virtual focus groups, caregivers share feedback to help identify opportunities for adaptation. Findings aim to strengthen caregiver understanding of water safety concepts and guide the development of a more accessible, caregiver-focused online water safety training program.

Participation Requirements:

  • Caregiver or parent over 18 years or older, English speaker
  • Caregiver/Parent must be independent and confident in their individual swimming abilities in deep water
  • Reliable access to internet and device
  • Willingness to complete training
  • Participate in a virtual caregiver focus group (1 hour)
  • Caregiver of a child with a diagnosed disability
  • Child is not currently independent in their swimming skills
