Autism New Jersey is proud to announce that its Executive Director, Dr. Suzanne Buchanan, has been named as a member of the Interdisciplinary Advisory Task Force established by Mikie Sherrill, Governor-elect of New Jersey.

The Advisory Task force is part of the incoming administration’s transition process, designed to bring voices from across the nonprofit, healthcare, education, labor, business, and advocacy communities into the policymaking conversation.

“Suzanne’s deep experience and Autism New Jersey’s decades-long commitment to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and their families makes her an ideal voice for this Task Force,” said Paul Cash, Board President of Autism New Jersey. “We are honored to contribute to shaping the policies that will impact our community for years to come.”

As a Task Force member, Dr. Buchanan will collaborate with experts and stakeholders from diverse sectors to offer perspectives grounded in family support, evidence-based practices, and whole-of-government approaches to inform policy priorities for the Sherrill Administration.

“I look forward to working with Governor-elect Sherrill and her administration to advance meaningful solutions that improve the lives of people with autism across New Jersey,” Dr. Buchanan said.

Governor-elect Sherrill’s transition plan has three components:

  1. Action Teams focused on the top priorities of the new administration;
  2. the Interdisciplinary Advisory Task Force, which will provide recommendations to the Governor-elect and the Action Teams; and
  3. direct public participation through a statewide transition survey.

“Our team will hit the ground running on Day One because of everyone stepping up to create a better future for the people of New Jersey,” Governor-elect Sherrill said in a statement announcing the members of the Task Force.
