Families, professionals, and the broader autism community have asked the same question for decades: “What Causes Autism?”

Drawing on decades of expertise, the speakers will explore the roles of genetic and environmental factors that lead to autism . They will also highlight key gaps in our understanding, especially regarding gene-environment interactions, and discuss promising directions for future study that may ultimately inform diagnosis and intervention.
Whether you’re a professional, parent, or self-advocate, this session will provide clarity and context for interpreting complex scientific findings and empower you to engage in thoughtful, informed conversations about autism’s origins.
Together with our Thursday keynote on trauma-informed care and severe challenging behavior, this session underscores our commitment to addressing the community’s most urgent and compelling questions with science, integrity, and compassion.
In addition to our Thursday and Friday keynotes, more than 60 workshops will address important areas including school-based issues, communication skills, assessment and treatment of challenging behavior, transitioning to adulthood, and common issues caregivers and siblings of individuals with autism face. The conference also includes opportunities to network with keynote speakers, presenters, exhibitors, and attendees from around the state.
Numerous continuing education opportunities are available.
