ABA Licensure Regulations Finalized
May 06, 2024
Application Process Opening Soon
Autism New Jersey is pleased to share that the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has issued the finalized regulations that will govern the applied behavior analysis profession in New Jersey. The rules were published, today, in the New Jersey Register.
We previously announced the passage of P.L. 2019, c. 337 and the appointment of the members to the State Board of Applied Behavior Analyst Examiners (Board). In 2021, the Board began the process of crafting regulations to govern the practice of applied behavior analysis in New Jersey.
As part of the regulatory process, the Board drafted regulations for the Division of Consumer Affairs’ review; made the draft regulations available for public comment; and reviewed and responded to public comments. The draft regulations have now been adopted. The May 6th issue of the New Jersey Register includes the finalized rules, a brief history of the regulatory actions taken, and a summary of the public’s comments and the agency’s responses.
What’s next?
- Finalize the licensure application
- Open the application portal*
- Begin reviewing applications for required qualifications and licensure
*The application portal is not yet open. The Board will update its website when it is.
Have questions?
Questions about the application, licensure process, and/or practice of applied behavior analysis should be directed to the Board.
