Open Enrollment for Health Insurance

Page Published on: 11/2/2023
Families can enroll in new health insurance coverage during the current Open Enrollment period. Open Enrollment occurs each year from November through January.

Open Enrollment for 2026 is here!

If you need a health plan for your child that covers autism treatment, like ABA, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy, now is the time when individuals and families can purchase new health plans and make changes to existing coverage. Any plan that is written in New Jersey and bought in New Jersey must provide coverage of autism treatment, according to New Jersey’s autism insurance mandate. You can purchase a plan on the NJ health insurance marketplace at  GetCoveredNJ or you can purchase a plan directly from an insurance company.

Families can enroll in new health insurance coverage during the current Open Enrollment period. Open Enrollment occurs each year from November through January. If you enroll by December 31st, coverage typically begins January 1st. If you enroll in January, your coverage may begin on February 1st, instead.

If you miss Open Enrollment, you will typically have to wait until the next open enrollment unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
