Creating Community Through Sensory-Friendly Events at Bierman

Autism New Jersey’s Public Policy Partners are schools and provider organizations that support our statewide work, and in this article, we get to hear from one of our partners, Bierman Autism Centers.
Exceptional therapy is only part of the equation—what truly brings our mission to life is building a space where families feel a sense of belonging. That’s why throughout the year, Bierman Autism Centers offers a series of free, sensory-friendly community events designed for children with autism and their families.
Hosted at our New Jersey centers in Berkeley Heights, Eatontown, Princeton, Ramsey, and West Orange—with our Piscataway center opening this summer— these events create welcoming, low-pressure opportunities for families to connect, explore, and enjoy seasonal fun together.
A Full Year of Inclusive Fun
Every few months, our centers transform into hubs of joy and discovery.
These events are always free of charge and open to children with autism and their siblings. While activities are designed with children ages 2–9 in mind, everyone is welcome to attend and join in the fun.
More Than Just a Morning of Fun
Each event is thoughtfully designed with input from our clinical and outreach teams, ensuring it’s not only fun but also sensory-considerate and supportive. Every detail is planned with the needs of neurodivergent children in mind.
By opening our doors to the wider community, we aim to give families a space to celebrate small wins, make new connections, and feel truly welcomed. Whether it’s a child giggling at a bunny for the first time or a parent meeting another parent who “gets it,” these events are filled with meaningful moments.
They also reflect Bierman’s mission of creating progress and possibilities®— in the therapy room and through everyday experiences that bring families together in joy and understanding.
