November is National Family Caregivers Month, which recognizes family members who support loved ones with health needs.

At Autism New Jersey, we’re all about the power of connection. And we believe that taking take time to focus on their own mental and physical health allows caregivers to be their best for their family member with autism.
Caregivers of children and adults with autism provide intensive supervision and support to maintain the safety and health of their family member. They have many tasks that may include bathing, dressing, feeding and transportation, and their role can be extremely stressful and isolating.
Each month, Autism New Jersey holds Wellness Connection Sessions to give caregivers the opportunity to connect with others and talk about a wellness topic. We also offer a Health & Wellness Coaching Series, which provides six sessions of coaching to small groups of caregivers to focus on personal goals and learn strategies for maintaining healthy habits over time.
“I learned that no matter how stressed I am, I have the power to do something about it such as meditate for a few minutes or exercise on a regular basis.
Being part of these sessions helps to motivate me.”
