Autism New Jersey Marks 60th Anniversary With Fresh Purpose and Partnerships

Page Published on: 11/18/2025

For 60 years, Autism New Jersey has been building understanding, acceptance and opportunities for individuals with autism and their families. As we mark this milestone, we embrace a renewed mission: to drive statewide change and create connections through compassionate support, expert guidance, and a deep commitment to an autism-friendly New Jersey.

Inspired by our history, we envision a New Jersey where people with autism thrive in their daily lives within fully supportive communities. We will not stop until our neighbors with autism have access to the education and treatment they need, the jobs and activities they choose, and the opportunities to live their best lives.

Our five core values guide everything we do: compassion, hope, collaboration, innovation, and resolve. These principles are evident in our work, whether we’re providing information and resources through the 800.4.AUTISM Helpline, supporting families seeking calm in the chaos, or partnering with hospitals and law enforcement to be more autism friendly. Every effort reflects our unwavering commitment to individuals with autism and their families.

Our mission, vision, and values explain our purpose, our direction, and our culture. And they reflect the needs of a broader autism spectrum, especially those with profound needs.

From our severe challenging behavior initiative to our family wellness programs to our community outreach, we are shaping a safer and more supportive New Jersey for individuals with autism and their families. In collaboration with individuals, families, professionals, government, and people across the state, we are building a future where everyone can thrive.
