Study: Measuring Interaction and Communication in Autism

July 19, 2024

Researchers from the University of Kansas are recruiting autistic children ages 4 – 6 years who use minimal speech for a study involving assessments of communication, comprehension, autism traits, and play from caregivers and their children via telehealth in the home (1.5-2 hours total). Focus will be directed towards moments where caregivers and children are “in sync”, or communicating back and forth. This research aims to enhance understanding of how social interactions develop during daily activities, play, and therapy.

Participation Requirements:

  • Children (age 4-6) with autism who don’t use spoken language as their primary mode of communication
  • Spend 1 to 1.5 hours on the study visit via Zoom
