Research Study: Parent Perspectives on AAC

March 03, 2025

This study will utilize qualitative interviews to explore the experiences of parents with children who have extensive support needs and access to augmentative and alternative communication in the home and community settings. It will specifically focus on the types of support they have received and the sources of that support. In addition to a one-hour interview, participants will complete a brief demographic questionnaire and provide a copy of their child’s most recent Individual Education Program (IEP). The results will assist professionals in identifying the practices families find helpful or valuable when supporting the use of AAC in home and community settings.
