Research Study: Caregivers and the Development of Autistic Identity

Researchers at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Department of Human Development and Family studies would like to explore how autistic identity develops in children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old. The study focuses on the perspectives of neurotypical caregivers. It will examine how their beliefs, attitudes, and daily practices may shape or support their child’s understanding of being autistic.
Participation Requirements
- Neurotypical caregivers (parents or guardians) caring for an autistic child aged 6 to 11
- Comfortable participating in interviews or surveys for research purposes
